Travel to Rakiura
There are two main travel options to get to Rakiura - a short (20 minute) flight from Invercargill Aiport, or a (1 hour) ferry crossing from Bluff to Halfmoon Bay.

Stewart Island Flights
Stewart Island Flights operate daily flights from Invercargill Aiport to Oban. Departure is situated in the main terminal building at Invercargill Airport, only minutes from the city centre. Check-in by is 30 minutes prior to your departure. Good value airport car parking is available on site,and a luggage storage service is available, free of charge. The scenic 20 minute flight has a maximum of nine passengers and a courtesy coach transfer from Stewart Island airfield to flights depot in the heart of Oban township is provided. The schedule changes throughout the year and can increase due to demand.

RealNZ Ferry
Experience Foveaux Strait onboard an express catamaran operated by RealNZ, during the one-hour crossing between Bluff and Stewart Island. A comprehensive commentary will provide information on the interesting landmarks commonly seen, such as Dog Island Lighthouse, Ruapuke Island, the Titi Islands; Mt Anglem; and wildlife - including mollymawks and other sea birds. Personal baggage is a maximum 2 bags per person (1 stowed and 1 small carry-on). Additional baggage can be taken by prior arrangement. RealNZ can provide secured vehicle parking at Bluff, close to the ferry terminal (additional cost).
